CHANNEL ACTION

LIGHT FORCES TORPEDO AXIS TANKER OTHER ENEMY VESSELS BADLY DAMAGED. ONE BRITISH SHIP LOST. * LONDON, March 10. At about midnight last night, light British naval forces engaged three enemy patrol vessels off the Dutch coast. A sharp action followed. One enemy ship was left burning and another was severely damaged. About an hour later British ships intercepted a large enemy tanker, with a strong escort. They scored two torpedo hits on the tanker, which burst into flames. The escort vessels also came in for attention. One British ship failed to return to its base. The others suffered only minor casualties and slight damage.
