R.S.A. SOCIAL EVENING

, TWO VISITORS ENTERTAINED. REHABILITATION POLICY. About 200 members of the Wairarapa R.S.A. assembled in the Masonic Hall last night, when a social evening was held in honour of the visit to Masterton of Mr P. H. G. Bennett, of the Lands Committee of the N.Z.R.S.A., and Mr W. E. Leadley, Dominion organiser of the New Zealand Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establishment League. Mr H. J. Brass, president of the Wairarapa R.S.A., who presided, extended a welcome to the visitors. The need of implementing a sound land policy for the rehabilitation of members of the Second N.Z.E.F. was urged by Mr Bennett, who also spoke of the good work accomplished by the Lands Committee of the R.S.A. on behalf of the returned men of the last war on uneconomic farms, especially in Canterbury. He pointed out that in the Wellington province returned men had not been placed in the same predicament as was the case in Canterbury. Mr Leadley dealt with the work of the Disabled Servicemen’s Re-establish-ment League, and indicated what it had accomplished for disabled men in the way of training them for useful occupations. Musical items were given by the following:—Mr Harry Hall, humorous items; Lieutenant Wilmot Wales, songs; Aircraftman Bennett, conjuring. Mr A. Miller-Hope played the accompaniments.
