APOLOGY DEMANDED
FROM THE PRIME MINISTER. WOMEN AND THE COST OF LIVING (By Telegraph—Pfess Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Exception to the attitude of the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and other Government members, during the speech by Mrs. A. N. Grigg, M.P., in the House of Representatives on Monday night, and also to remarks made by Mr Fraser about a meeting of housewives regarding the cost of living, was taken at a largely-attended meeting of members of the Wellington central branch of the National Party last night. The following resolution was adopt? ed: “That this meeting of the electorate of Wellington Central strongly protests against the manner in which Mrs A. N. Grigg, M.P., was interrupted by the Prime Minister and other members of the Government party during her speech in the Address-in-reply debate on Monday night, such being in marked contrast to the respectful hearing given to the other lady members of the House. We further protest against the Prime Minister’s insulting description of the ladies who protested about the cost of living as being ‘half Communst and half Tory.’ We call on Mr Fraser to apologise to these ladies and to treat with courtesy all women who take part in public life.”
