SOVIET MINISTER

ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.10 0.m.) CANBERRA, March 4. The arrival in Australia of M. Andrei Petromitch Vlasov, the first Soviet Minister to the Commonwealth, has been announced. M. Vlasov’s party numbered fourteen. He is accompanied by his three young daughters. Although it was known that some members of the Soviet Legation staff were on their way to Australia, the early arrival of the Minister was not expected. M. Vlasov, who is 37 years old, is a member of the Soviet Foreign Office. He had been Dean of the Faculty of the Institute of Steel at Moscow, and during the last two years had occupied a responsible post in the Department of Foreign Affairs.
