“TE KOOT1” OVER BERLIN. NEW ZEALAND AIRMAN’S DESCRIPTION. (Special P.A. Correspondent.) LONDON, March 3. Pilot Officer Bob Renner, Gisborne, was among the New Zealanders in the latest Berlin raid. He named his Stirling “Te Kooti.” ’ He said: “We ploughed through wall after wall of searchlights round Berlin, which was already on fire. You have heard people talk of a sea of flame. Well, it was like that. They were the best fires we have seen, and it looked as if half Berlin was on fire.” He added: “On the return trip, we could still see the fires when we were 200 miles from Berlin, showing like a great red pall.”
