EWE FAIR
HELD IN MASTERTON YESTERDAY. A BETTER TONE REPORTED. The Association Auctioneers report as follows on the supplementary ewe fair, held in their Colombo Road yards yesterday:— A. yarding of 15,000 was submitted to a good attendance of local and outside buyers, practically a total clearance being effected at more even values than for the two previous fairs, whilst a better tone prevailed in all sections. Two-tooth ewes met with brighter competition, better values being recorded. Two-tooth wethers were also in keener demand. In the two-tooth ewe section the estate of L. P. Larsen obtained '3os. In the 4-tooths, the Admiral station received 24s 3d, and for 6-tooths, Mr Guy Fredricksen’s made 21s Id. Four-year ewes on account of Mr W. H. Gordon made 18s 3d, whilst in the 5year section the L. P. Larsen Estate received 20s. Six-year gwes on account of the Wardell Estate realised 12s lOd. Approximately 1000 2-tooth wethers were yarded, and the top price was 22s lOd on account ol Mr J. Bannister. In the store lamb section 19s 7d was obtained for shorn ewe lambs on account of Mr. C. H. Bannister, and Mr E. P. Savage obtained 17s 9d for woolly wether lambs. The following will indicate values received at auction:— Two-tooths: Estate L. P. Larsen, 30s: Te Parae, 25s 2d; D. M. Perry, 245; Estate A. B. Cottle, 23s Id; T. A. Brown, 22s 4d; Te Parae, 225; Tinui Station, 21s 9d; G. Shaw, 21s 6d; H. Myers, 21s 2d; Te Mai. 21s Id; others, 15s, 17s 4d, 19s Id and 20s lOd. Fourtooth maidens: Estate A. B. Cottle, 225. Four-tooths: Admiral Station, 24s 3d, 20s Id; Castlepoint Station, 23s lOd, 22s lOd; Tinui Station, 23s 2d; H. Myers, 22s 6d; A. B. Cottle Estate, 21s 6d; Guy Fredricksen, 21s Id; others, 17s, 20s. Six-tooths: Guy Fredricksen, 21s Id; others, 13s to 18s. Fourtooth to 4-year: H. J. Nitz, 18s. Six-tooth to 4-year: J. Bannister, 20s; N. G. Groves, 20s. Four-year ewes: W. H. Gordon, 18s 3d; A. B. Cottle Estate, 18s; A. Geddes, 14s lOd, 14s 9d. Four and 5-year ewes: Trass Bros., 18s; N. T. Wyeth, 16s 6d. Five-year ewes: L. P. Larsen Estate, 20s; Admiral Station, 17s 4d; J. Bannister, 16s 3d; others, 11s to 15s lOd. Two-tooth wethers: J. Bannister, 22s lOd; C. M. Hodgins, 20s lOd; Te Mai Station, 20s Id. Shorn ewe lambs: C, H. Bannister, 19s 7d.
