TINUI
EX-DISTRICT SETTLERS PRESENTATION TO MR AND MRS JOHNSTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Yesterday a deputation from the Tinui district proceeded to Masterton to make a presentation to Mr and Mrs J. Johnston, who have taken up their residence in Masterton after living for 48 years in Tinui. Mr S. Schofield referred to the affection in which Mr and Mrs Johnston were held by the people of the district. In making a presentation of a chesterfield suite, he spoke of the long and faithful service rendered by Mrs Johnston in district organisations. The fact, he said, that the fund had been subscribed by every family in the district testified to the esteem in which the Johnston family was held. OPENING OF VICARAGE In connection with the opening of the new vicarage at Tinui on Tuesday, Mrs Miles, who possesses an excellent voice, contributed a solo which was greatly appreciated. Mrs Schofield, Senr., presented a bouquet to Mrs Holland, wife of the Bishop of Wellington. Personal. Mrs L. E. z Schofield, of “Triangle,” Tinui, celebrated her 85th birthday today. Mrs Schofield was born at Makara, Wellington. Her descendants comprise nine members of her own family, 48 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
