PUREBRED SHEEP

SALES BY LOCAL BREEDERS. Messrs Dalgety & Co. report as follows: Prominent breeders at recent ram fairs held at Dannevirke and Masterton were G. E. Allen & Sons, Tipua, and J. E. Hewitt, Mangamaire. At the former fixture Messrs G. E. Allen & Sons secured first prize in the Romney class, and these sheep at auction realised At the Masterton ram fair the same breeders secured first prize in the Southdown section and these were sold at 25gns, also at the Masterton fair. Mr J. E. Hewitt’s Romneys were in great demand. This breeder secured first prize for his Romney show pen, which was sold at 25gns, and two other pens at 21gns and 23gns. Over his whole consignment of 42 sheep, the splendid average of just over 15 gns was obtained.
