TEA AND SUGAR
AN EXTRA ALLOWANCE FOR MARCH AND APRIL. ANNOUNCEMENT BY CONTROLLER (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The tea and sugar rations for March and April were announced on Saturday by the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr J. E. Thomas. An extra allowance of tea is to be made available, as well as additional sugar for those who did not receive the special allowance of sugar for marmalade in July or August. Mr Thomas said it was hoped to make a further general release of sugar for jam to everyone on or before April 1. This would be the subject of a further announcement. Coupons numbered 17, 18, 19 and 20 are to be used during March with a total value of Boz. of tea. Coupons numbered 21, 22, 23 and 24 are to be used in April, also with a total value of Boz. of In addition to this basic ration, a further Boz. of tea will be supplied to each ration book holder at any' time from March 1 to April 30 on the surrender of coupon number 49. The March, issue of sugar will be three pounds to each ration book holder. Coupons numbered 17 to 20 inclusive are to be used, each with a surrender value/ of 12 ounces of sugar. Coupons numbered 21 to 24 inclusive will be available during April, each with a surrender value of 12 ounces of sugar, giving a total April issue of
three pounds against each ration book. In addition to the general ration, a further three pounds of sugar is authorised for supply during March only to all those who did not receive the allowance of sugar for marmalade in July and August, 1942.
