STATE THEATRE

“LANCER SPY.” Tonight's programme will be headed by an outstanding drama, “Lancer Spy.” The story is a thrilling 1 one and the plot is off the usual run of spy pictures. It is acted in an exceptionally clever manner, and the many difficult situations are most capably handled by George Sanders, Peter Lorre and Dolores del Rio. They have parts particularly suitable to their acting capabilities and they make the most of the many tense situations which arise, rounding each off in a most dramatic manner. Some of the incidents are of type which could easily be spoilt by indifferent acting but George Sanders, Peter Lorre and Dolores del Rio handle them as true artists should. There is a never-to-be-forgotten climax in the picture. There is an excellent supporting programme. The usual matinee will be held tomorrow commencing ati.2.15 p.m. There will be shown tonight an exceptionally interesting Australian news reel containing an excellent picture entitled “Uncle Sam Strikes at Guadalcanal” and which gives a splendid insight into the operations of the United States forces in that area.
