LACK OF FUEL

NO LIGHT OR POWER DIFFICULTIES IN MALTA LAST SUMMER. TRIBUTE PAID TO PEOPLE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) RUGBY, February 25. Lord Gort, in a tribute paid in London to Malta disclosed that last summer the island had been without light and power owing to the lack of fuel. Lack of fuel also created difficulties in the communal feeding of 15,000 to 20,000 on poor relief. Fodder had to be reserved in a large measure for horses, consequently the famous Maltese goat's milk supply suffered. Lord Gort emphasised that all difficulties had been overcome and there was no food hardship now.
