PERSONAL

Mr W. B. Griffin, Nelson, has been elected president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and Mr F. H. Bass, Wellington, vice-president. It is announced that the resignation of Major K. Foulkes, head of the New Zealand Security Intelligence Bureau, has been accepted by the Government. Police Superintendent J. Cummings, who was formerly stationed at Masterton, has been appointed temporarily to take charge. The many friends of Mr and Mrs H. M. Hansen, Tiraumea, will regret to learn of the death of their daughter, Pearl, Isohel, which occurred at the Masterton Hospital at an early hour this morning following an illness of three months’ duration. The deceased was very popular in the district and at the Wanganui Girls’ f College where she was a pupil. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the parents in their sad bereavement.
