STOCK MARKET
SALE AT ADDINGTON. FAT WETHER VALUES DECLINE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 24., Several good lines of station twotooth ewes sold well. Fat wethers showed a decline of up to 2s a head, but ewes remained at last week’s level. The best price of the day was 40s for Romney two-tooth ewes, with several sales of similar sheep from 34s to 375. The highest figure for halfbred two-tooths was 335, prices ranging from 22s 6d to that figure. Values generally were at a level which suggested that there was no market margin for bringing fresh and frozen beef from the North Island as has been done in the past few weeks. Best beef ranged from 40s to 42s 6d per 1001 b. Porkers showed little change, the average price a pound being 7.? d, though unfinished and plain showed an easing. In the bacon section- bidding was spirited and prices showed a further advance of 4s to 5s a head, the average price being Bid to 9]d lb. EWE FAIR PRICES AT MASTERTON YESTERDAY. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their Masterton ewe fair yesterday:—An exceptionally big yarding comprising- 30,000 ewes came forward and were offered to a fairly big attendancce. West Coast buyers were present, but were very cautious. The sale was erratic, some of the attractive animal drafts meeting with strong competition and making prices well in advance of last year, while other lines, not quite so well known, dropped to very modest prices. Although the 2-tooths were better in both condition and size than those offered at the last fair, they met with a disappointing demand. The following are the prices:— Two-tooth ewesr' A/c H. R. W.
