Usually towards the end of September the price of milk in Wellington changes from what is known as the winter price to that ‘ of the summer. Last year, however, the winter price was continued right through by both the city corporation’s milk department and the near-by farmers, no notification being made to the public of the change in the usual order. This was brought under the notice of the Price Fixation Tribunal, with the result that a drop in the price was ordered as from tomorrow. It was stated that the continuation of the winter price through the summer was governed by the increased price given producers by the Government last August. Under the order of the Tribunal the price of milk in Wellington will recede from 7d to 6>d a quart tomorrow.
