IMMEDIATE AWARDS
NEW ZEALANDERS HONOURED. (Official War Correspondent, N.Z.E.F.) CAIRO, February 19. The immediate awards to members of the N.Z.E.F. for bravery and leadership during the battle of El Alamein and the advance to Nofilia, are released. Two senior officers receive the D. a junior officer the M.C., seven n.c.o.’s and other ranks the M.M. The personnel are as follows: D. 5.0., Lieut.-Colonel R. E. Romans, Arrowtown; Major E. W. Hayton, Christchurch; M.C., Lieutenant R. T. Masefield, Hamilton; M.M., Sergeant H. H. McLean, Christchurch; Corporal B. Pounsett, Auckland; Corporals J. Tupene and J. Pirihi, both Opotiki; Signalman C. Bough, Hikurangi; Private E. J. Bullot, Dunedin.
