Mrs H. H. Pavitt, Cole Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit' to Castlepoint. Mrs M. McCracken, of Essex Street, Masterton, has received word that her son, Private L. G. McCracken, is a prisoner of war in Italy. Advice has been received by Mrs E. Grantham, of Masterton, that her husband, Driver Earl Grantham, has arrived safely, at his overseas destination, According to present arrangements, the unveiling of the memorial to the late Prime Minister, Mr Savage, at Bastion Point, Auckland, will take place on March 27, the third anniversary of his death, or on the following day. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, is to perform the ceremony. Major R. G. C. McNab, headmaster of John McGlashan College, Dunedin, advised the last meeting of the board of governors of the college of his resignation. Major McNab has been transferred from the Army to a permanent position, with the British Legation in Persia.
