ENEMY ALIENS
ARRESTS IN UNITED STATES INCLUDING A FACTORY PRESIDENT. ACTIVITIES FAVOURING NAZIS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, February 17. Mr E. E. Conroy, a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announcedthe arrest of 11 enemy aliens, including the president of a New York war plant which has been operating almost entirely on contracts for the armed forces. The identity of the man is not revealed, but it is disclosed that he received a salary of 7500 dollars a year. Mr Conroy said that the arrested plant president admitted that he favoured victory for the Axis, and that he had fought in the German Army in 1914-16 andreceived the Iron Cross. Till the outbreak of this war he had received a pension from Germany. The arrested man visited the German Consulate in 1940 andvolunteered his services, but refused service in the United States forces. His wife, son and daughter have also been arrested.
