MASTERTON CLUB EWINGTON BADGES CHANGE HANDS. NOTES BY “THE BOWLER.” Further results in the Masterton Bowling Club’s competitions are as follow: — Champion singles: Campbell beat W. Hendry; Davies beat Beecroft; Campbell beat Prior. . Champion pairs: Thomson and Christian (s) beat Palamontain and Lewis (s); Wylie and Beecroft (s) beat Palamontain and Lewis (s); Martin and Stubbings (s) beat J. Russell and Hayne (s); Mills and W. Reid (s) beat Prior and Jones (s); J. Russell and Hayne (s) beat D. Thomson and Christian (s); Wylie and Beecroft (s) beat Martin and Stubbings (s); Mills and W. Reid (s) beat J. Russell and Hayne (s). . Wylie and Beecroft (s) have now to meet Mills and W. Reid (s) in the final. Ewington Badges: A 'challenge match among the veterans was played on the Masterton Club’s green on Wednesday afternoon last, between the holders, A. Hendry, T. T. Denbee, E. W. Nielson and C. Perry (s), of the Masterton Club, and the challengers, Kilgour C Moore, H. Carr and J. Shearer (s’), of the Park Club. Nielsqn played as substitute for Doughty. After a most enjoyable game, the holders were defeated by 10 points. The green was in good order. Prior to the commencement of the game, Mr F. Percy, of the Masterton Club,’ extended a hearty welcome to the Park bowlers. The details of the match are: On the fifth head the scores were Park 6, Masterton 1. The position at the ninth head was Park 9, Masterton The Park had increased their lead on the eleventh head to 9 points, and there was the same difference in the scores at. the 15th head. The 17th head showed the scores to be Park 23, Masterton 15, and on the 19th head the scoreboard read: Park 27, Masterton 15. Masterton scored two singles on the last 2 heads, the final result being: Park 27, Masterton 17. The Masterton team had previously won four challenge matches. SATURDAY’S ARRANGEMENTS. To enable players to participate in a full afternoon of competition play, the Masterton Bowling Club’s committee has decided that on Saturday next, two games of 15 heads will be played in the club fours competition. At the conclusion of the first game, a further draw will be made for the second game. All unplayed games in the first 3 rounds of the handicap singles must be completed before February 27.
