BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

MEETING OF COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES IN MASTERTON. RESIGNATION OF SECRETARY. A committee meeting of the Masterton Beautifying Society was held last night. Mr L. Robinson was in the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. Regret was expressed that, owing to military duties, Mr J. Lawson had had to resign the position of secretary. The position will be temporarily filled by Mr V. Joseph. Mr J. G. McFarlane was appointed treasurer. The chairman reported on the various activities of the Society since the last committee meeting. A discussion took place concerning the trees in the streets of the town. The chairman expressed the wish that residents would more fully realise that the trees were their property, and that the society would appreciate any help in their cultivation and preservation.
