PARCELS APPRECIATED BY SOLDIERS OVERSEAS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Several letters from local soldiers overseas have been received by the Mayoress, Miss Card, acknowledging the Christmas parcels sent by local residents. The contents arrived in good order and were very much appreciated. Miss Card was asked to thank the donors of the parcels and the packers. Personal Items. Miss Hatton, of the local telephone exchange, has been promoted to the position of supervisor of the telephone exchange at Waiuku, and left on Monday to take up her new position. The postmaster, Mr J. AV. Holland, on behalf of the staff, presented Miss Hatton with an electric iron and congratulated her. Mr Trevor Hutana has been promoted to the position of telephone exchange clerk at Featherston. Mrs Ross, Auckland, is visiting friends at Tauherenikau. Haunui Croquet Club. In the A grade championship Mrs Symons beat Miss Nix 26/22, 15/26, 26/14. Fellowship of Youth. There was a good attendance of members at the Fellowship of Youth meeting on Monday night. After a discussion on future plans, table tennis was played. COSY THEATRE “A YANK IN THE R.A.F.” The thrilling drama, “A Yank in the R.A.F.,” will head the excellent programme at the Cosy Theatre tonight. Tyrone Power and Betty Grable are featured in a strong cast. It is undoubtedly the finest picture of its kind ever brought to the screen.
