HOME HOSPITALITY
WANTED FOR UNITED STATES SERVICE MEN APPEAL TO DISTRICT RESIDENTS. BIG COMMUNITY EFFORT POSSIBLE. An. opportunity is offered to the residents of Masterton and the Wairarapa to show their appreciation of the' work done in the South Pacific war zone by their American allies. Colonel Pepper, of the United States armed forces, states that he is anxious for his men to have as much rest as possible, and leave largely depends on the ability of the community to absorb the men. ■ The Hospitality Committee of the American Red Cross Service Club is therefore appealing to residents to entertain these men in their homes, either during the daytime or for the weekend. It is hoped that where transport is a difficulty, means may be available to meet it. “This is an opportunity,” the committee states, “for many people to repay the kindness shown to their soldiers abroad. The hospitality of a home means more to strangers than any othei’ type of entertainment. This appeal is made to every householder in Masterton and the country districts, and it is hoped that extensive private hospitality will be forthcoming. Will those who are willing to do their share in this community effort please ring immediately one of the undersigned, who are members of the Hospitality Committee of the American Red Cross Service ;Club: —Mrs C. Deans (chairman), 371W; Mrs N .Beetham, 1208; Mrs R. Bunny, 1239; Mrs N. Irwin, 1696; Mrs E. J. Rich, 1096. Provision has been made at the club for an information bureau, which will handle any personal requests of the servicemen.
