The Associated Press of America says that Monday’s navy communique first’ mentioned the Vought-Sikorsky Corsair fighters, which are very high altitude long-range machines, characterised by a dashing gull-wing design. They are believed to be the fastest carrier-type plane in the world, with a speed of 400 miles an hour, or equal to that of the best land-based fighters.
