EARLY MEETING
OF HEADS OF ALLIED STATES
TO MAP POST-WAR POLICY. URGED BY AMERICAN WRITER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 15, Urging an early meeting of Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt in order to map post-war plans, Mr Glen Perry, writing in the “New York Sun,” quotes the “Pravda’s” statement that the Soviet regards Bessarabia and the Baltic States as integral parts of Russia, since they were Russian in the time of the Czars. Mr Perry comments that if the-Soviet is determined to have the Baltic States, it is safe to say she is going to get them. Already there are signs that Britain is prepared to recognise them as part of the Soviet Union. Realistic Washington observers see the fact of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia depending on the Soviet Union, and the same thing obviously is true of Poland, Finland and perhaps the Balkan nations, and not inconceivably of all Europe. The Soviet signed the Atlantic Charter and the hope in Washington is that Russia approaches that document in the same spirit as does the American Government.
The Algiers radio stated that Marshal Timoshenko is reported to be heading a mission to President Roosevelt. A party of Russian officers is stated to have arrived at Port Natal (Brazil) a few days ago.
