PRESIDENT OF FINLAND
DR RYTI RE-ELECTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, February 15. Dr Risto Ryti has been re-elected President of Finland for another two years. It is not considered in London that the re-election will have any local significance since it apparently does not change the present position of Finland as a German satellite. It is emphasised that no peace overtures have been received in London from Finland, either direct or through Washington. On the eve of Finland’s Presidential election, Russian planes raided Helsinki continuously from late last night until early this morning. Some bombs fell in the suburbs, according to the Berlin radio.
