Alan Ford, aged 19, lowered the world record for 100 yards freestyle swimming, covering the distance in 50 3-sseconds. Also, swimming in the first leg of 400 yards free style relay race, Ford helped Yale to set a world record of 3 min,|tes 26 1-5 seconds.
