T AWARDS AT DANNEVIRK.E. GOOD PRICES FOR SOUTHDOWNS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, February 12. The thirty-fourth annual ram fair under the auspices of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association was held at the local saleyards. Awards in the show pens were:—Romneys, open; judge, Mr N. P. Nilsen, Palmerston North:—One one-shear stud ram: Hugh Haycock, Dannevirke, 1; L. N. Hoggard, Greytown, 2. Four one-shear flock rams: G. E. Allen and Sons, Masterton, 1; Hugh Haycock, Dannevirke, 2; Mrs A. J. Hardy, Featherston, 3; G. E. Allen and Sons, Masterton, v.h.c. Natural condition: L. N. Hoggard, Greytown, 1; Wairarapa Training Farm, Masterton, 2; L. N. Hoggard, Greytown, 3. The best of the stud Romneys made 35 gns. For good flock Romney rams, the bidding was spirited, running up to 23’/agns. In the Southdown section there was l keen competition throughout, prices being higher than last year. Good flock rams made 12gns. to 15gns., medium Bgns. to 10gns., and the tail-enders brought sgns„ 6gns., and 7gns. Stud Southdown rams made 43gns. to 46gns.
