THROWN BACK ON ARAKAN FRONT • ENEMY TROOPS AMBUSHED IN NORTHERN BURMA. ALLIED BOMBERS & FIGHTERS BUSY. LONDON, February 12. In Burma, there has been a flare up on the Arakan front, where reinforced Japanese units launched a sharp coun-ter-attack against the British forward positions. The enemy was thrown back at all points and suffered severe losses.

In north and Western Buf-ma guerilla forces are taking a heavy toll of enemy patrols. In one instance two lorries packed with Japanese troops were ambushed and many of the enemy were killed or wounded. The R.A.F. is continuing its attacks from the air. Blenheims, escorted by fighters, bombed three Japanese-occupied villages. Fighters attacked road and rail transport in other parts of Burma. Not a single plane was lost' in these attacks.
