SOMETHING GOOD
TOUCHED OFF BY BOMBERS AT WILHELMSHAVEN ENORMOUS EXPLOSION SEEN BY AIRMEN. SKY LIT UP FOR MILES. LONDON, February 12. The Air Ministry announces that R.A.F. bombers last night made a heavy attack on . the German naval base at ■Wilhelmshaven, the centre of much submarine building. The R.A.F. was last over Germany four nights ago, on the same night as the German U-boat base of Lorient, on the northern coast of the Bay of Biscay, was heavily pounded. Members of the bomber crews who 'took part in the attack on Wilhelmshaven last night describe what they saw while the bombs were still falling y on the target. The attack was the 70th made.on this great German naval and U-boat base since the war began. It started just before 8 o’clock and six minutes later the crews saw an enormous explosion. It lit up the sky for'.miles under the cloudbank, before the glare died away, silhouetting the attacking bombers. “It looked as if we had touched off a store of mines or an arsenal or something pretty good,” said an airman. The Air Ministry states that bombing attacks on the port are known to have reduced seriously the production of German submarines. 4 DAMAGE AT COPENHAGEN. An echo of the last raid by R.A.F.
