MAMMOTH POWER PLANT
CONSTRUCTION IN CANADA. OTTAWA, February 5. Three generators are in operation in Canada’s mystery power plant in northern Quebec. Despite its enormous size—it is bigger than the famous Boulder Dam of the Colorado River in western United States —the construction of the new hydro-electric plant was one of Canada’s best-kept secrets of the war. Main Street knew nothing of its existence. Its location was revealed only a few days ago. A new generator will be installed each month till twelve are in place. The plant can then throw another million horse-power into the production of aluminium. The installed capacity of Boulder Dam as of a year last January was 975,000 horse-power.
