REGENT THEATRE
“DANGER IN THE PACIFIC.” The double feature programme, “Danger in the Pacific” and “Strictly in the Groove” will be finally shown tonight. “PARDON MY SARONG.” Abbott and Costello in their brief but spectacular career have portrayed detectives, cowboys, sailors, soldiers, mechanics and carnival spielers. In their newest comedy, “Pardon My Sarong,” which will be shown at the Regent Theatre tomorrow, at 2.15 p.m., they will appear as bus drivers who later become castaways on an uncharted south sea island. The island sequence gives the comedians an opportunity to don sarongs and cavort with the native maidens. More adventure is cooked up by a smooth villain who.is swindling the islanders of their hard-earned pearls and gold. Romance is provided by Robert Paige and Virginia Bruce, while the menace is portrayed in convincing fashion by Lief Erikson and Lionel Atwill. Nan Wynn, a newcomer to the screen, is attractive as the native island girl who becomes more than fond of Costello. Entertaining specialties are contributed by Tip, Tap and Toe, dancers, the Saronga dancing girls, and The Four Ink Spots. At tomorrow's matinee a further episode will be screened of the exciting navy serial, “Don Winslow of the Navy.”
