MUTUAL HELP
IN EVENT OF ENEMY ATTACK AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND. STATEMENT BY PREMIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The mutual help that would be given by Australia and New Zealand in the event of either country being attacked was referred to by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, when asked last evening if he had any comments to make on the Australian Commonwealth Militia Bill, which extends the area of service of members of the Australian citizen military forces to the South-West Pacific zone. Mr Fraser said he felt assured from his discussions last July with the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Curtin, who had so ably directed his country’s war effort since taking office, and also from discussions he had with the Australian War Cabinet and War Council, that if New Zealand were Jn danger of attack Australian troops and warships would come to our assistance. Similarly, he could also state that if Australia were attacked New Zealand would assist to the utmost of its capacity,
