FINE OF £2O RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Frank Anderson, caretaker, Tauherenikau, appeared before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, Featherston, yesterday, on remand from the December 'sitting of the court, on two charges of receiving stolen goods, viz., a quantity of groceries, etc., of a total value of £lO 12s 6d, and a quantity of tea of a total value of £1 13s, the property of the New Zealand Government, in November last. Accused was represented by Mr J. de V. Blathwayt, solicitor, Martinborough, who entered a plea of not guilty co both charges. After evidence was heard the Magistrate convicted accused. On the first charge accused was fined £2O, with 10s witnesses’ expenses, a period of two months being allowed to pay the fine. On the second charge accused was convicted and discharged. The case for the prosecution was conducted by Detective-Sergeant W. Kane, Masterton. WEDDING McKENZIE—MARSHALL. In the Presbyterian Church recently Joan, elder daughter of the late Staff Sergeant W. T. and Mrs Marshall, Featherston, was married to Arthur Oliver, third son of Mr and Mrs K. G. A. McKenzie, Featherston. The Rev H. Bloomfield officiated and Mrs Raper was the organist. The bride, who was escorted by Mr J. P. Gray, wore a lovely gown of peach and silver brocaded lame, with a tulle veil and topknot of gladiolas. She carried a bouquet of pink gladiola and blue delphinium. The bridesmaid, Miss Alison D. Marshall, sister of the bride,'was attired in a charming frock of blue georgette and carried a bouquet of blue aud pink tones. Two little flower girls, Kay Southee and Beverly Mouatt, were dressed in picturesque frocks of pink and blue georgette and carried posies to match. The best man was Mr Allen Johns. A reception was later held in the Masonic Hall, where Mrs Marshall, wearing a blue frock and black acces-, sories, and assisted by Mrs McKenzie, who was dressed in a navy tailored suit with ‘navy hat, received the 'guests. Mr and Mrs McKenzie later left on a tour of the South Island, Mrs McKenzie wearing a black tailored suit and a black hat. Their future home will be in Featherston. Personal. Mr and Mrs S. Raper have received advice that their son, John, has been promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieuten-ant. Croquet. In an A grade championship croquet match, Miss Nix beat Mrs Symons, 19/26, 26/17, 26/16. Services’ Club, Card Party. There was a good attendance at the card party held at the Services’ Club, when Mrs Charles and Mrs Kenny tied fob first prize. Mr Tait won a competition held. Motor Camping Ground. At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Automobile Association, Mr C. J. Nix reported that he had had enquiries if the Association would considei' selling that part of the new Featherston Camping ground, some 11 or 12 acres, not in use.—lt was resolved that the Association would be willing to sell, and that the Featherston Committee be empowered to deal with the matter, under certain conditions. COSY THEATRE “TIME OUT- FOR RHYTHM.” Tomorrow night’s excellent programme has for its chief feature the musical hit, “Time Out For Rhythm,” in which Rudy Vallee, Rosemary Lane and Annie Miller have the leading roles. The associate picture, “Glamour Boy,” is a splendid comedy, featuring Jackie Cooper and Walter Abel.
