NEW FIGHTER-BOMBER

LATEST GERMAN MACHINE

PARTICULARS OF ARMAMENT

AND SPEED.

USE OF PROTECTIVE ARMOUR.

(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) RUGBY, February 10.

In recent raids over Germany and in the Middle East, R.A.F. pilots have encountered a new fighter-bomber developed from the twin-engined Messerschmitt 110. This is the Messerschmitt 210 A, which is compared in some ways with the Mosquito. It is a lowwing monoplane, carrying a crew of two—a pilot who acts as bomb-aimer and radio operator, and also a rear gunner. It is designed as a longrange fighter and dive-bomber or for ground attacks. The top speed is estimated at 370 to 380 miles an hour at 18,000 feet, which is 30 to 40 miles faster than the earlier model. The size is similar and the armament comprises two fired 20-millimetre guns in the nose and two 13-millimetre guns in barbettes controlled by the rear gunner. The bomb load is up to lbs. It is estimated that about 900 lbs. of armour plate are fitted to the machine.
