EMPIRE HELP

IN SOLVING SUPPLY PROBLEMS EMPHASISED BY COLONEL KNOX. TWO-WAY LEASE-LEND AID. LONDON, February 9. The British Empire’s help in solving American supply problems; in the Pacific has been emphasised by the American Navy Secretary, Colonel Knox. He pointed out that in this war zone, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand had provided what he called a substantial proportion of the U.S.A. Navy’s needs. Colonel Knox was giving examples of two-way lease-lend aid. He said that from points as far away as Scotland and New Zealand Allied ■ ports had provided free and quick service to ships of the American NaVy. The extension of lease-lend aid was vital to American war plans and upon it depended the ability of the United Nations to carry out the war strategy.
