HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB. YOUNG BIRD RACE. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club held at the weekend its first race of the young bird season from Dannevirke, an airline distance of 55 miles. Owing to the rough weather conditions only eight out of the thirty-five birds liberated returned home on the day of the race. The following were the results:—L. Wickens’s “Doubtful Lad,” time, 2 hours 17secs, 1; L. Wickens’s “Ariel Son,” time 2 hours 1 min 23 secs, 2; Stewart & Son’s “Imperium,” time 2hrs smin 7secs, 3; Stewart & Son’s “Your Own,” time 2hrs smin 41 secs, 4; A. Pinkney’s “Scottie,” time 2hrs 7mins 4secs, 5; Grant and Forrester’s “Black Bess,” time 2hrs 25min 1 sec, 6. ! The next race will be from Wai'pawa, an airline distance of 85 miles.
