WOMEN’S INSTITUTE $ COMPETITION WINDERS. ¥ (“Times-Age” Special.) The Mauriceville Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. C. Johansen, Miss R. Mortensen presiding. Five apologies for absence were received. Mrs. Baine reported that a further eight soldiers’ parcels had been forwarded overseas.' Donations to the soldiers’ parcel fund were received from Mr. and Mrs. Bird, 10/6; and anonymous, 10/-. Miss J. Larsen gave a demonstration on the making of bread brooches and flowers, for which she'was accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions resulted as follows: Best bloom, Miss R. Mortensen 1, Mrs. G. Nielsen 2, Miss J. Larsen 3; date loaf, Mrs. G. Nielsen 1. Mrs. Baine 2, Mrs. Wilson 3. ' The president thanked Mrs. Stack and Mrs Nikolaison for acting as hostesses.
