Hendry (s); Prior and Jones (s) beat Gordon and Henderson (s). ONEROUS WORK. CONDUCTING OF TOURNEYS. This season the Masterton Bowling Club has held a number of enjoyable one-day tournaments. I often wonder whether many bowlers realise the onerous work entailed in running these tourneys. Members put down their names on the .notice board, stating they are prepared to enter for the tourney. They have nothing further to do than wait for the day appointed for play, and then And that everything has been most satisfactorily arranged. The club’s president, Mr H. Thomas,

at one of the last tourneys, made special and eulogistic reference to the excellent work done by the club’s selector, Mr A. Stubbings, and one of the match committee, Mr W. Hendry. Mr Stubbings has to go through the names and, to the best of his judgment, arrange the teams as equally as possible, and I must congratulate him on the efficient manner in which he has carried out his duties. On the tourney day we members arrive on the green and then find that Mr Hendry, in his well known artistic manner, has drawn up on a board the teams that play each other, and the number of the rink they play on. Congratulations, “Bill,” on your fine work.
