Speaking at a civic reception to Mr. Justice Davis, Canadian High Commissioner, Sir John Latham, Chief Justice of the High Court, said he looked forward to the day when it would be regarded as an important element in Australian politics to develop communications, which meant transport between the Dominions. He hoped that some day there would be an Australian Government which would not hestitate to subsidise steamship lines to South Africa, Canada and New Zealand, so that there could ready interchange of people, ideals and ideas.
