CARTERTON SALE. GOOD VALUES FOR LAMBS. Messrs. Wright Stephenson & Co.. Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale held yesterday: There was a big yarding. Several pens of really good black face lambs came forward and made good values. The best w.f. lambs also sold well. Cull lambs made late values. A few pens of ewes were offered but did not meet with much competition. There was a full yarding of cattle and these made values on a par with late sales. Pigs were firmer. The following are the prices:—Sheep: Prime lambs, 25/- to 26/-; fat lambs, to 22/-; fat wethers, to 22/6; fat ewes, to 11/-: fat b.f.’s to 22/6; good b.i. lambs, 18/-, 19/-, 19/4, 20/1 to 20/6 medium b.f. lambs, 13/4. 13/9, 14/9. 15/7, to 16/9: small b.f. lambs, 12/- to 12/3; good woolly wether lambs, to 17/7; medium w.w. lambs, 10/-, 10/7, to 12/3; shorn wether lambs, 9/- to 9/6; small w.w. lambs, 7/3, 8/3, 9/-, 9/1, to 9/6: 2-tooth wethers, to 19/4; good woolly ewe lambs, to 20/-; small woolly ewe lambs, 12/-, 13/6. to 14/7: medium 4 and 6-tooth ewes, to 18/7; m.a. ewes, 10/3, 11/4 to 11/6; store ewes, 4/9 to 6/-. Cattle: Springing cows, guaranteed sound, £B, £9 to £10; good springing Jersey heifers, £lO to £lO/5/-: heifer calves, to £2/2/-; fat bullocks, £9/12/6, £ll to £ll/10-: fat cows £5 to £B/4-; fat heifers, £5/4/- to £5/15/-; forward cows, £4 to £4/17/6; store cows, £2/9/- to £3/15/-; cull cows, to 34/-; cows land calves, £5/17- to £6/17/6; bulls, £4 to £7/10/-; heavy bulls. £8 to £11; Jersey cross steers to £6/5/-. Wairarapa Stock and Station Agents report as follows on their Martinborough sale; We offered a full yarding of lambs to a good attendance. There were several pens of good quality rape Jambs yarded and for these prices appeared to be in advance of those ruling at recent sales elsewhere. Ewe lambs were also in keen demand. A line of 250 very well grown shorn wether lambs offered on account of Messrs. J. and H. A. McDonald made 18/-. J. W.
