TAXI DRIVERS

THE NUMBER IN MASTERTON. “There are thirty to forty taxi drivers in Masterton,” observed Lieutenant F. H. Goldfinch, Army liaison officer, to the N.Z. Armed Forces Appeal Board (Napier) at the board’s sitting in Masterton today. Mr C. R. Mabson (Borough Engineer): “There are 12.” Mr H. B. Lusk (chairman): “That reminds me of a compensation claim. One side says a million and the other side says a hundred.” Mr Mabson’s figure was accepted by the board.
