POLES FROM RUSSIA

NUCLEUS OF NEW ARMY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, January 24. The Poles evacuated from Russia were carried hundreds of miles across Russia and transported to a Persian port, where special reception camps were established. The men are to be formed into the nucleus of a new Polish army for service in the Middle East. The Russians have supplied them with modern rifles and equipment, while the British authorities have supplied food and clothing. As an instance of the great feeding task which was carried out by the Royal Army Service Corps, it is stated that in one month 1,250,000 rations were supplied. The evacuees numbered over 100,000, and included women and children.
