AIR FORCE BAND

VISIT TO WAIRARAPA THREEFOLD MISSION. PERFORMANCES IN MASTERTON’ AND CARTERTON. "ty" To stimulate interest in Royal New 1 Zealand Air Force recruiting and to assist in raising patriotic funds, the band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force will arrive in Masterton on Friday next for a stay of three days in the district. The band is stated to be the niost ambitious and elaborate ever formed in this country. As a result of, its efforts the band has raised the firttgjtotal of Ver £lOO,OOO during its extensive tours*_over the past three years. 'The band’s'recruiting mission is threefold being to promote the recruiting interests of the R.N.Z.A.F., the Women’s Air Force and the Air T.rainingVorps. The band will be under the baton of Flight-Lieutenant -Gladstone H. Hill, who is officer in charge of the band, as well as being director of music for the Air Force. Under his direction, the band has established an unparallelled reputation for its musicianship, precision and deportment. Overseas critics speak well of the band, whose attainments can be regarded as all the more meritorious in view of the frequent changes in its personnel. On arrival at the Masterton Railway Station on Friday the band is scheduled to leave the station at 2.15 p.m. and march though the principal streets. On Saturday a visit will be paid to Carterton and on Sunday a grand ceremonial parade will be held on the Park Oval in the afternoon. On Sunday night the band will present a concert in the Regent Theatre.
