NOMINATED FOR CHRISTCHURCH EAST. * (Ey Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. . There will be five candidates in the Christchurch East by-election, following on the death of the H<on. H. T. Armstrong. Nominations closed at noon today. The nominations are: — Mabel Howard (Labour), M. E. Lyons (National), H. E. Herring (Democratic Labour), O. J. F. McFee (Independent Socialist), and L. A. Efford (peace candidate). Mr W. Julius Hyde, of Wellington, will not go to the poll. He called on the returning officer just before nominations closed to advise him that he would not be standing as an Independent, as two nominators were not forthcoming.
