SECOND DAV AT TRENTHAM FORM PROSPECTS. GOOD QUALITY FIELDS ENGAGED. The second day of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting will be held at Trentham on Saturday and if last week’s meeting is any criterion new records should be made in totalisator figures. Large fields of the best handicap horses in the country are engaged and a good day’s racing is assured patrons. The club’s appointments are ,of the best and amply cater for the racing public. The main race on the card, the Wellington Racing Club Handicap, H miles, has attracted twenty runners, nearly all of which have good form recommendations. The field is practically the same as in last Saturday’s Cup race, with the addition of interesting runners in Rakanui, Sir Crusoe, Tutere, High Class, and Moutoa Bond. Royal Lancer, who was beaten by a head in the Cup, looks promising, with a third, two firsts and a second in his last successive starts. His reputation in sporting circles as being the “Kindergarten of the South” is well deserved. Foxola, the Auckland contender, is the essence of consistency with a second and three thirds in its last four starts. Rakanui, the Hawke’s Bay candidate, is at his favourite distance and is nicely weighted to fill a place. The Joker, who won the Cup on Saturday; Battledress, who finished well, Lou Rosa, the beaten favourite in the Cup race, and Good Scout are all to be considered. It is most likely, however, that the public will declare for form horses and will select the following: Royal Lancer, Foxola, Rakanui. The Metropolitan Handicap, a richly endowed seven furlong race, has attracted a good field. On last week’s running, Neenah and Beau Vaals look the pick of the Bunch. Palora, the winner of the sprint over six furlongs last week was all out to hold off Neenah and Beau Vaals and over an additional furlong the Auckland pair look as if they will be handy at the finish. Of the South Island string, Fur Coat, Scottish Dale, John Gay, Dinah Dhu and Mauretania, the one that makes the most appeal is John Gay. There is a doubt about the brilliant Clarice starting. Poutatau, Autolite and Pompit look the best of the rest. The favourites may be: Neenah, Palora, Beau Vaals. OTHER RACES. For the other races on the card the following horses appeal:— Mungaroa Highweight, 1 mile and 3 furlongs (12.0): Nightray, Madame Rachael, Pastmaster. Trial Plate, 7 furlongs (12.42): Dash Up, Flying Ace, Gamble. January Handicap, 1 mile (1.26): Good Scout, Indian Sign, Rink. Camp Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs (2.9): Glenfalloch, Duncroon, Sir Bradbury. Nursery Handicap, 6 furlongs (3.42): Supercharged, Master Dash, Gulf Stream.

Douro Hack Handicap, 1 mile (5.15): Prince Shad, Sal, Stourbridge.
