LIMITED ENEMY GAIN

IN SOUTHERN TUNISIA. (British Official Wireless.) v (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, January 20. A communique issued by Allied Headquarters in North Africa states: ‘•Minor engagements continue in the Bouarada-Goubellat area. Enemy forces moving south-west from Pont du Fahs penetrated about seven miles. One advancing column was attacked by Spitfires. Our bombers attacked roads and railroads in the areas of Tunis and Sousse on Monday night. Yesterday Flying Fortresses attacked the Tunis area, obtaining hits on industrial targets and railway yards. P3B planes attacked a column of enemy vehicles near the Tunisian frontier, destroying about twenty. One enemy bomber was destroyed on Monday night. From all these operations two of our aircraft are missing.”
