MANY ENEMY SHIPS
SUNK IN MEDITERRANEAN BRITISH DESTROYERS ACCOUNT FOR THIRTEEN IN SPACE OF THREE NIGHTS. LONDON, January 20. Axis ships between Italy and North Africa have been the target of more concentrated attacks by both the Royal Navy and aircraft from Malta. The Admiralty announces that destroyers sank a total of 13 enemy vessels during Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. The British ships suffered neither casualties nor damage. A submarine sank a medium-sized ship after a five-hour chase and set two smaller ships on fire. Another’ submarine torpedoed a large enemy vessel, but could not see the extent of the damage.
