WAR SERVICE

WOMEN’S AUXILIARY EXECUTIVE OFFICERS APPOINTED. PROSPECTS OF FIRST CLASS ORGANISATION. If the spirit of co-operation which was in evidence at a meeting of the local Women’s War Service Auxiliary Committee, held in Masterton last night, can be taken as a criterion, the prospects of a first-class organisation being started here look bright. There were present at the meeting: Mesdames T. Jordan, J. Robertson, S. Copp, Perfect, McWhinnie, H. E. Pither, T. R. Barrer, A. Keir, A. Hosking, Misses Cruickshank, D. Kemp and Guild. Executive officers were appointed as follow: —President, Mrs Robertson; vice-president, Mrs Barrer; secretary, Mrs McMinn. It was reported at the meeting that enrolments were streaming in, and that girls were keen to commence activities. Arrangements were made for the rally to be held in the Y.M.C.A. at 7.30 o’clock on Monday night. The idea of the rally is to get the girls together and form various classes and groups. Convenors were appointed as follow: —Signallers, Mrs Keir; drill, Mrs Whittaker; first aid, Miss Kemp; canteen, Mrs Pither. No convenor has yet been appointed for the transport section. Mrs Copp was appointed the W.W.S.A. representative on the Rehabilitation Committee, and Mesdames Barrer and Keir were placed in charge of the Land Girls’ section. The office in Perry Street will be kept open permanently.
