PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE PRICE FOR WASTE RUBBER. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Mayor, Mr D. L. Taverner, presided over a meeting of the Carterton and District Patriotic Committee held in the Dalefield Dairy Co’s building. There were also present Messrs J. A. B. Lawrence, C. A. Chennells,- A. T. Murray, L. J. Fairbrother, A. E. Hall, J. Steel, Mesdames P. L. Beere, E. T. Beaven, J. L. Loftus, W. A. R. Penfold, J. Standen, L. J. Fairbrother and Miss C. Berrell. An apology for absence was received from Mr F. Court. The Featherston Borough Council and Greytown Citizens Patriotic Committee wrote relative to a combined Wairarapa district effort in connection with the 1943 patriotic appeal. The letter was received. It was resolved on the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Mr L. J. Fairbrother, that the zone B central committee, Masterton,' be advised of the proposed amalgamation of districts. On the motion of ftlr J. A. B. Lawrence, seconded by Mr C. A. Chennells, it was decided that the National Council for Reclamation of Waste Material be advised that rubber was available for collection. The Zone B central committee’s attention is to be called to the position in connection with wool packs and to the payment for paper consignments. The secretary was instructed to approach the National Council for Reclamation of Waste Material in connection with the variation in prices offered for waste rubber and the poor price for the bulk of the rubber. Personal Items. Mr Downey, who will succeed Mr C. C. Callender as manager of the Carterton branch of the Bank of New Zealand, arrived in Carterton yesterday from North Auckland. Mr Callender, who has managed the local branch for the past 10 years, will leave for Inglewood at the end of next week. Mrs Scott, of Napier, is a visitor to Carterton .and is the guest of Mrs de Norville. Bowling. Two games in the Carterton Bowling Club’s singles championship were played last evening as follows: —Sorensen beat Hughan, 17/9; Kilmister beat Barr, 20/17. REGENT THEATRE “DUMBO.” ( The great circus picture, “Dumbo,” will be the feature at the Regent Theatre tonight. It is Walt Disney’s best effort and contains many tuneful rhelodies. Those who appreciate the best in pictures should not miss seeing “Dumbo.”
