HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES

0 ALLOCATION FOR NOVEMBER QUARTER. DECREASE RECORDED. The apportionment of heavy traffic fees in the Wairarapa district for the quarter ending November 30, 1942, has just been completed by the Masterton County Council. This shows that the total fees received during the period was £1,550, as compared with £1679 for the corresponding period in the previous year. County councils in the Wairarapa, which receive 75 per cent of the allocation, will have £ll5l distributed between them and the borough councils, which receive 25 per cent of the total, will have £383 distributed among them. Details of the allocation to counties, made on a percentage basis, are, the figures for the corresponding period in the previous yfear given in parentheses: Masterton, 21.35 per cent, £245 (£266); Featherston, 21.56 per cent, £248 (£268); Wairarapa South, 16.41 per cent, £lBB (£204); Pahiatua, 14.06 per cent, £l6l (£175); Eketahuna, 10.42 per cent, £ll9 (£129); Akitio, 8.02 per cqnt, £92 (£99); Castlepoint, 4.64 per cent, £53 (£57); Mauriceville, 3.54 per cent, £4O (£44). The apportionment to the boroughs is, Masterton receiving 40 per cent of the fees allocated between the boroughs and the remaining boroughs have the balance equally divided: Masterton, £153 (£166); Pahiatua, Featherston, Greytown, Carterton, Eketahuna and Martinborough, £3B (£42) each.
