A joint India communique reports: “Our troops are continuing their offensive patrolling on the Assam front. Volunteer units comprising various nationalities have made contact with the enemy in the Chin hills area and there have been occasional encounters in the past few days. Kyautktau, a village about 30 miles north-east of Rathedaung, was occupied by our troops on Sunday, with only slight opposition. Enemy resistance in this area continues. Pressure is being maintained against the enemy on the Mayu Peninsula. “Yesterday Blenheims continued to bomb enemy targets and occupied villages in the Mayu River area. Other planes attacked water craft on the Chindwin and Irrawaddy rivers and down the coast south of Akyab. No enemy aircraft were encountered. Medium and heavy bombers attacked enemy aerodromes near Toungoo and Meiktilla on Sunday night. Bombs were also dropped on Akyab. None of our aircraft are missing. “A delayed report indicates that three or four enemy aircraft dropped bombs in forward areas of SouthEastern Bengal on Sunday night. There was some minor material damage, but there were no casualties.”
